Physical Security Specialist

Summary: The position oversees the physical security program in EUCOM, AFRICOM, and CENTCOM. Key duties include security inspections, threat assessment, training, incident investigation, emergency management, access control, risk management and liaison with military and civilian stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, plan, and evaluate all facets of the Physical Security program for DLA in EUCOM, AFRICOM, and CENTCOM.
  • Conduct physical security inspections/surveys at DLA sites.
  • Serve as a technical advisor for Anti‑Terrorism/Force Protection and physical security matters; provide threat assessments and briefings.
  • Conduct security training and investigations; recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Act as the Assistant Emergency Management Officer.
  • Manage building access control, Intrusion Detection System, CAC card encoding, key FOB program.
  • Support readiness exercises and COOP.
  • Update and coordinate DLA's Enterprise Protection Risk Management program.
  • Manage multiple security programs, including Trusted Associate Sponsorship System (TASS).
  • Engage with top‑level military, civilian, and foreign government personnel; represent DLA at meetings and conferences.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Security clearance: Special Sensitive with Top Secret/SCI.
  • Background check requirements for Special Sensitive clearance.
  • Appointment exempt under FLSA.
  • Must register for Selective Service if applicable.
  • Must have REAL ID or other acceptable ID for federal facilities access.
  • DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) required.
  • Flexible tour of duty; overseas rotation possible (up to 36 months).

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of experience directly related to physical security operations equivalent to GS‑11. Experience may include:

  • Advising on security and intelligence programs, plans, and policies.
  • Maintaining security education and awareness training.
  • Conducting site visits, vulnerability, threat, and risk assessments.
  • Managing electronic security systems and building access control.

Volunteer experience such as Peace Corps or AmeriCorps is acceptable if transferable.
