Overview
The firm is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to oversee its Solar PV assets across the DACH region, with a strong emphasis on C&I-scale systems (commercial rooftops, industrial sites, behind-the-meter solutions, and private PPAs). Based in Berlin, the successful candidate will lead the operational, financial, and strategic management of a growing portfolio of distributed and utility-scale solar assets.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Performance
- Manage the performance of Solar PV assets across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with a focus on C&I rooftop and ground-mount installations.
- Develop and execute strategies to maximise production, yield, PR, IRR, and long-term asset value.
- Monitor key KPIs including availability, degradation, curtailment, inverter performance, and grid compliance.
- Drive optimisation programmes including repowering, equipment upgrades, and hybridisation with battery storage.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee O&M partners, EPC contractors, and technical service providers across the DACH region.
- Ensure compliance with SLAs, health & safety standards, grid codes, and technical guidelines.
- Conduct site inspections, oversee remote monitoring, and review root-cause analyses for performance issues.
- Lead the technical onboarding of new C&I assets: documentation, acceptance testing, and system validation.
Financial Management
- Own the portfolio P&L for DACH Solar PV assets.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost optimisation, and financial reporting.
- Optimise revenue streams including PPAs, tenant supply models, feed-in tariffs, and merchant exposure.
- Identify refinancing opportunities, insurance optimisation, and portfolio-level cost efficiencies.
Risk & Compliance
- Track and mitigate regulatory, technical, grid, counterparty, and operational risks across the DACH region.
- Maintain current understanding of German regulatory frameworks (EEG, metering rules, grid requirements) and equivalent frameworks in AT/CH.
- Ensure compliance with ESG standards and internal governance requirements.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary point of contact for grid operators, landlords, commercial clients, municipalities, regulators, and technical partners.
- Work closely with development, technical, M&A, and finance teams to integrate new assets into the portfolio.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly portfolio reports for senior management and investors.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in Solar PV asset or portfolio management, ideally with significant exposure to Germany or the broader DACH region.
- Strong familiarity with C&I solar models, including tenant supply, self-consumption schemes, behind-the-meter systems, and rooftop engineering constraints.
- Solid technical understanding of PV systems and performance analytics.
- Financial literacy in project finance, PPA structures, and asset valuation.
- Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Economics, or Finance; postgraduate degree preferred.
