The MEMOREM project at the Physics Department of Padova University pushes the boundaries of neurons fluorescence imaging through the development of an advanced metasurface-based platform for magneto-optical resonance excitation. Funded by the Italian Research Ministry, it aims at redefining the state-of-the-art microscopy for neuroscience and material research.
The project supports a research contract position (the highest postdoc level available, ex RTDA) at the Padova University Department of Physics and Astronomy, for a 2 years duration (extendable within the project boundaries).
As postdoc you will investigate the magneto-optical resonance of Na23 clusters, work on the development of a magnet control system, the integration of the metasurface chip into the microscope and the characterization of the magneto-optical setup, including the beam pulsing and alignment tuning.
PhD degree in physics, engineering or equivalent subject. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed their degree no more than one year before the deadline for applications.
The Physics and Astronomy Department (DFA) is the biggest and one of the most important University research departments for Physics in Italy. It hosts and collaborates with the Padova section of INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), and INAF (National Institute for Astrophisics), as well as all the major research institutions and laboratories across Europe.
The position is full time, with a starting date to be agreed upon (best before July 2026).
