PostDoc – Quantitative Modelling of Sperm Dynamics

The PostDoc in Quantitative Modelling of Sperm Dynamics will work at Forschungszentrum Jülich and will develop a digital twin of sperm motility, integrating computational simulations with experimental data to create a separation method for advanced semen production.

Your Job

  • Perform computer simulations and match them to experimental data.
  • Collaborate closely with experiments, including occasional wet‑lab work.
  • Integrate experimental results, simulations, and literature to determine optimal conditions for movement differences.
  • Participate in national and international conferences and present research results.
  • Travel to industry partners to learn and set up on‑site research.
  • Prepare scientific publications and project reports.

Your Profile

  • Strong motivation for an interdisciplinary project combining physics, biology, simulation, data science and practical relevance.
  • Master's degree or diploma and a subsequent PhD in biophysics, biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • High degree of independence and commitment.
  • Good knowledge of Python and C++.
  • Experience in simulation sciences (especially microswimmer modelling), wet‑lab work and microscopy is an advantage.
