Power BI – Senior Manager Finance

Introduction to the position

This Power BI – Senior Manager Finance role is within the Data & BI team of a private equity firm, supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. The team delivers data, analytics, and finance-driven insights that inform senior management and board-level decisions.

While Power BI is a core tool, this role goes beyond dashboard development and requires a broad understanding of the full BI lifecycle. The successful candidate will gather business requirements from finance, procurement, and operational teams, structure and clean raw and often unstructured data, and develop actionable dashboards and analytical solutions. The position requires flexibility to work across multiple platforms, including Tableau or Qlik, and across a technology‑agnostic environment where data quality and system maturity vary widely.

This role provides significant exposure to portfolio businesses and the opportunity to influence strategic decision‑making. It also offers long‑term potential to work on internal projects such as CEO‑level cost control initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain insightful dashboards and analytical reports primarily using Power BI
• Clean, structure, and validate data from legacy systems and unstructured sources
• Translate business requirements from finance, procurement, and operations into analytical solutions
• Adapt solutions across multiple BI platforms as required (e.g., Tableau, Qlik)
• Ensure accuracy and repeatability of processes feeding senior management and board‑level decisions
• Manage third‑party vendors and BI‑related contracts when needed
• Travel to portfolio businesses across Europe, Asia, and the U.S. (up to 80%)

Desired Qualifications

• Strong Power BI expertise and experience with other BI tools is advantageous
• Background in consulting or startup environments preferred
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in English (German beneficial)
• Solid understanding of finance processes and business analytics
• High attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors
• Comfortable working in technology‑agnostic, fast‑changing environments
