Power Electronics Lab Manager (m/f/d)

As Lab Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, development and safety of our research and development laboratories. The Lab Manager will play a central role in supporting experimental research activities, including designing and building R&D setups, maintaining laboratory infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing inventory and procurement.
Your Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of laboratory operations to ensure they run smoothly, safely and efficiently on a day-to-day basis
  • Use CAD tools to design mechanical and electrical components in support of experimental and prototype development
  • Support the design, assembly and commissioning of electrical and electromechanical R&D setups
  • Help researchers and engineers to build, modify and maintain experimental test rigs.
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade laboratory electrical systems and equipment, and maintain them
  • Develop, implement and enforce laboratory safety procedures, paying particular attention to electrical safety
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and internal guidelines
  • Manage the laboratory inventory, tracking electrical components, tools, equipment and consumables
  • Oversee the purchasing process, coordinate with suppliers and track the budget for laboratory equipment and materials
  • Organise and maintain technical documentation for laboratory procedures, equipment usage and safety protocols
  • Support the training of students and staff in the use of laboratory equipment, electrical safety and best practices
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, researchers and technical staff to provide ongoing support for R&D projects

Your Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree or technical qualification inElectrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field
  • Previours progessional experience
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with electrical systems and laboratory equipment
  • Experience working in an engineering or research laboratory environment
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, or equivalent
  • Practical experience in building, wiring, and testing electrical or electro-mechanical setups
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety standards, particularly electrical safety and risk management
  • Experience with inventory management, procurement, and supplier coordination.
  • Good troubleshooting skills for electrical and laboratory equipment.
  • Passion for research and innovation, and a willingness to learn and adapt quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German is a plus
