Private Equity – Associate / Senior Associate (German Speaker)

Our client is an established European private equity investor focused on building long-term value in mid-market businesses across the DACH region and the Benelux. The firm deploys committed capital through control-oriented investments, partnering closely with management teams to drive operational improvement, accelerate growth and support strategic repositioning. Its investment philosophy combines hands‑on engagement with a disciplined, fundamentals-driven approach to value creation.

To support continued deployment momentum, the firm is seeking a German‑speaking Associate / Senior Associate to join its Amsterdam-based investment team. This is a high‑impact role within a lean, entrepreneurial environment where professionals take real ownership across the full investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Execution & Investment Analysis

• Lead core workstreams across live transactions, including commercial, financial and operational analysis, valuation, modelling and due diligence coordination.
• Develop investment cases for German‑speaking markets, synthesising insights from management meetings, market research and advisor input.
• Prepare investment materials for IC discussions and contribute to conviction‑building around asset quality and value‑creation potential.

Portfolio Engagement & Value Creation

• Work closely with portfolio company leadership on transformation initiatives, operational improvement and strategic projects.
• Build performance dashboards, track KPIs and identify opportunities to strengthen competitive positioning.
• Serve as a key point of contact for management teams, supporting the execution of growth plans and operational workstreams.

Origination & Market Mapping

• Support origination efforts across the DACH region by developing market maps, analysing subsector dynamics and identifying investment opportunities.
• Engage with advisors, founders, intermediaries and industry executives to build a network within targeted ecosystems.
• Contribute to early‑stage screening and pre‑DD assessments for proprietary and intermediated deal flow.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with senior team members on strategy formulation, value‑creation planning and transaction structuring.
• Collaborate with operating professionals and external advisors to validate operational assumptions and assess scalability.
• Ensure seamless communication between deal, portfolio, and operational stakeholders throughout the investment lifecycle.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Approximately 4–6 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity or a similar transaction‑driven environment.
• Strong analytical skillset and comfort leading modules across due diligence, valuation and financial modelling.
• Exposure to operational value creation, transformation or implementation projects is a strong advantage.

Skills & Attributes

• Native German speaker with strong command of English; comfortable operating across European markets.
• Commercial, detail‑oriented and able to build conviction through structured analysis and independent thinking.
• Thrives in lean teams; comfortable taking genuine responsibility from the outset.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the maturity to interact with management teams and external stakeholders.

Education

• Outstanding academic background in finance, economics, business, engineering or related fields.
