Job Overview
Process Development and Optimization
- Develop, characterize, and stabilize wet‑chemical processes (e.g., SC1 & SC2 and structuring of Si, SiO, SiN, and metals) for new technology nodes
- Define and optimize process windows using DOE (Design of Experiments), SPC, and advanced data analysis
- Perform root cause analyses for yield deviations, defects, and process variations
- Create and maintain process control plans, including critical dimensions (CD), uniformity, and defect density
Equipment Engineering
- Lead the selection, specification, and installation of new tools and technology upgrades
- Drive tool qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and process‑tool matching across the equipment fleet
- Monitor and improve equipment uptime, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), and throughput using TPM methods (Total Productive Maintenance)
- Collaborate with equipment vendors for troubleshooting, upgrades, and optimization of preventive maintenance
Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement
- Analyze large datasets from inline metrology (e.g., CD‑SEM, ellipsometry, AFM) and electrical end‑of‑line tests to identify trends and prevent process deviations
- Develop automated scripts or dashboards for tool and process monitoring
- Lead FMEAs and risk assessments for the introduction of new processes and equipment changes
- Drive cost reduction through cycle time improvement, consumable optimization, and initiatives to reduce scrap costs (CoPQ – Cost of Poor Quality)
Collaboration and Documentation
- Provide technical support to production teams for process and equipment issues
- Collaborate with global engineering teams for technology transfer and benchmarking
- Document process recipes, work instructions, specifications, and change controls in compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO9000, IATF)
What your background should look like
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- More than 5 years of experience in semiconductor process or equipment engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of semiconductor unit processes, tool hardware, vacuum systems, RF plasma, thermal processes, or chemical reactions
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages is a plus (e.g., JMP, R, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
