Product Engineer (m/f/d)

This position offers the chance to take ownership of a diverse product portfolio, spanning both hardware and software. The role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking, requiring someone who can balance product development, lifecycle management, and commercial priorities. The successful candidate will act as the link between engineering, sales, and delivery teams while ensuring the client’s products remain competitive, reliable, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Planning

• Research market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings
• Build business cases and recommendations for new initiatives
• Support standardization of products, tools, and documentation
• Contribute to product roadmaps, marketing activities, and business plans

Product Lifecycle

• Oversee products from launch to optimization and eventual phase-out
• Define product/design requirements and review technical specifications
• Coordinate type approvals and manage intellectual property matters
• Track and address product obsolescence

Operational & Sales Support

• Maintain documentation, materials, hardware/software configuration, and version control
• Support sales with configuration management, pricing models, and quotation tools
• Provide product documentation, marketing materials, and scope definitions
• Deliver product-related webinars, training sessions, and customer presentations
• Assist with resolving product quality issues

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, or similar
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet network technology and cybersecurity
• Understanding of IT systems, software engineering, and computer science (able to define specs and validate solutions)
• Experience with ERP systems (ideally MS Dynamics) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
• Skilled in project management, vendor coordination, and technical stakeholder alignment
• Fluent in English and German; confident user of Microsoft Office and BI tools (e.g., Power BI)
• Programming ability in Python or JavaScript, with the ability to contribute to software tasks (a sample application may be requested)
• Experience managing technical product portfolios (hardware and software)
• Knowledge of materials management and quotation support tools is a plus
