The Business Support Development Department (BSD) plays a crucial role in providing system support for various operations between users, clients, and Rakuten businesses. Our department provides diverse services across three main areas: DATA, Business Support/Accounting, and CRM. Position Summary
Our team is responsible for developing and managing internal business support systems that power the back-office operations of our rapidly growing e-commerce services. We are seeking a proactive and skilled Product Manager (Middle Level) to take ownership of specific products. This role involves understanding business needs, translating them into system requirements, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support business objectives.

Position Details

Product Ownership

Take ownership of one or more specific products.
Manage and prioritize initiatives and backlog ensuring alignment with defined product roadmaps.

Requirements Analysis

Collaborate with business to understand their daily processes, challenges, and specific system needs.
Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business requirements in a clear and structured manner.

Solution Delivery

Partner closely with Engineering teams to ensure solutions are built according to specifications and meet quality standards.
Participate in design discussions and provide input on user experience of your products.

Stakeholder Communication

Coordinate communication between various business groups and technical teams regarding the progress and status of your products.
Clearly communicate requirements, changes, and updates to relevant stakeholders.

Mandatory Qualifications:

2-4 years of experience in Product Management, Business Analysis, or a similar role.
Proven ability to partner with business representatives to identify needs, define, and document clear system requirements.
Experience in translating business problems into actionable solutions.
Familiarity with product planning and project management concepts.
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
Good problem-solving and issue resolution skills.
A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to take initiative and contribute beyond direct instructions.
Excellent communication skills (Business level proficiency in Japanese and English is required).

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in analyzing business processes and identifying opportunities for efficiency.
Familiarity with change management principles or contributing to new process/policy development.
Experience in documenting and reporting project status or feature progress to stakeholders.
Basic understanding of budgeting or resource considerations in project contexts.
Ability to contribute to the conversion of complex business functions into initial technical specifications.
