iO Associates is currently partnered with a leading maritime engineering company that is seeking a German‑speaking (B2 level or above) Project Manager for shipbuilding to lead and manage complex refit projects for high‑value and naval vessels. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of end‑to‑end project delivery and play a key role in shaping the future of advanced shipbuilding and refit operations.

As part of a dynamic and forward‑thinking team, you'll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of refit projects, ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery in a highly technical and regulated environment.

Due to the nature of these projects, only EU citizens can be considered for this role.

Requirements

• Degree in Shipbuilding Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
• 8+ years experience in the maritime sector (shipyard, ship suppliers, or shipping company inspections).
• 4+ years of experience with naval/military vessels.
• B2 level or above in German
• Strong organisational skills, conceptual thinking, and ability to negotiate and influence.
• Solid technical understanding combined with business acumen and ERP system experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and coordinate shipbuilding refit projects independently.
• Monitor project performance across timelines, milestones, costs, and quality.
• Organise internal departments and trades to ensure smooth execution.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers professionally.
• Liaise with classification societies and authorities, resolving technical issues within the project team.
• Lead and organise production processes on board.
• Document project implementation and ensure compliance with standards.
