This Position reports to: Service Operations Manager.
Your Role And Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for safety-related systems in industrial plants. You will ensure that all engineering activities in the area of functional safety are implemented efficiently and cost-effectively, and you will serve as the technical contact person for safety-related automation systems.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- You coordinate and create safety-related hardware and system documentation, such as safety concepts, SRS, and FDS. You structure the scope of supply of safety-relevant hardware and software according to normative requirements (IEC 61508/61511) and monitor deadlines and compliance with legal requirements.
- You plan, configure, and test safety-related automation systems, such as emergency stop, ESD, and failsafe controllers. You also conduct safety acceptance tests (SIL tests, validations) and are responsible for commissioning and creating safety-related project and customer documentation.
- You act as the central point of contact between the project, customers, suppliers, and external auditors such as TÜV. Furthermore, you support and train customers in the operation and maintenance of safety-related systems.
- You support sales in the technical clarification and concept development in the area of functional safety and work closely with international teams.

Qualifications For The Role
- You have several years of experience in the design and commissioning of safety-related systems in process automation and are familiar with the industrial plant market.
- You possess practical experience with safety-related controllers (e.g., ABB 800xA Safety, HIMA) as well as sound knowledge of the application of relevant standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511), risk analyses, and SIL classifications – certification as a Functional Safety Engineer is advantageous.
- You are innovative, customer-oriented, and solution-focused with a high degree of commitment, teamwork, and flexibility.
- You have a completed technical degree (ideally in automation engineering, electrical engineering, or functional safety) or further training as a technician with relevant professional experience.
- You communicate confidently in German and English, both written and spoken.
- You are willing to travel for commissioning projects lasting several days to several weeks, both domestically and internationally.
