Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d) – Focus Extension Store

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d) who ensures that only high-quality extensions make their way into our Shopware Extension Store.

In this role, you will be responsible for the quality assurance of partner-developed extensions offered through our store – meaning you won’t be testing our own product, but rather reviewing and approving third-party extensions.

You will make sure these solutions meet our technical, functional, and quality standards, playing a key role in maintaining a reliable ecosystem for merchants and developers alike.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys systematic testing, has a keen eye for detail, and takes pleasure in analyzing, evaluating, and continuously improving a wide variety of software solutions.

These are your tasks:

• Review and evaluate partner extensions for the Shopware Extension Store with regard to functionality, performance, security, and compatibility.
• Develop and implement clear test strategies to ensure a consistent quality baseline for all submitted extensions.
• Conduct manual and automated tests to ensure partner extensions are stable, performant, and compliant with our standards.
• Develop and maintain testing frameworks and guidelines to continuously improve the QA process in the Extension Store.
• Collaborate closely with partners, the Extension Team, and internal developers to communicate technical requirements and quality criteria transparently.
• Document and track bugs and support partners in resolving quality issues.
• Measure and report key quality metrics – e.g., rejected vs. approved extensions, average QA cycles, or recurring error types.
• Actively contribute to the ongoing development of our QA processes to increase scalability and efficiency.

This is what you’ll bring to the table:

• Experience in software quality assurance, ideally with a focus on evaluating external software or marketplace ecosystems.
• Technical understanding of web technologies and common frameworks, especially PHP, JavaScript, and SQL.
• Experience with tools such as GitHub, Jira, Postman, and CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to quickly analyze complex extensions and define precise test strategies.
• Experience with API testing and automated test frameworks.
• Independent, structured working style and strong communication skills when dealing with external partners.
• Ideally, a degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
