Job Role: R&D Engineer – Product Research / Customisation (Solar PV)

Type of Job: Freelance

Duration: ~ 3-6 Months (Possible Extension)

Location: Germany (Kirchdorf – 50 km from Munich)

I am working with a leading Solar Engineering company who are expanding their R&D and product customisation capabilities. They are actively hiring for a Freelance R&D Engineer / Product Researcher to support the customisation of PV panels for major clients across Europe.

This role focuses on mechanical development of fixed‑tilt ground‑mount systems and solar trackers, ensuring project‑specific panel adaptations are correctly engineered. Quality of installation is critical.

• German C1 required (written & spoken).
• Strong communicator with ability to liaise with engineering + customer teams.
• Mechanical Engineering background — metal structures, mounting systems, trackers.
• Experience working directly with PV module customisation / mechanical PV components.
• Prior experience within Solar PV mounting structures / tracking systems
• Must be able to work on‑site in Kirchdorf 3 days/week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting R&D activities for panel customisation and structural adaptation.
• Reviewing and improving fixed‑tilt and tracker mounting designs.
• Working closely with customers to align engineering solutions with their project needs.
• Ensuring engineering concepts can be installed efficiently and safely on‑site.
• Troubleshooting issues related to installation delays or contractor errors.
• Providing feedback to product teams for continuous improvement cycles.
