At the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer, which sees itself as an innovative, pioneering university of the future, the above-mentioned temporary position with 75% of the regular weekly working hours of a full-time position – limited until February 28, 2029 – is to be filled as soon as possible in the Faculty of Technology at the Institute of Hyperloop Technology (IHT) on the Emden campus .

The focus of the tasks within the scope of the Interreg VI-funded “HyperBRIDGE” project is on infrastructure monitoring and operational development for innovative applications in Hyperloop technologies.

The University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer is a driving force for the region and sets the tone for innovative developments in the northwest. The “HyperBridge” project, funded by Interreg VI with around €4.83 million, is being carried out by 10 partner institutions from Lower Saxony and the Netherlands to advance the mobility of the future at the research infrastructures of the European Hyperloop Center (EHC) and goTube. The IHT is leading the sub-project “Operating System Development for Hyperloop Demonstrators” and is contributing its expertise in physics and engineering to the development of a digital twin of the research infrastructures. Suitable measurement and automation technology is being used to develop and validate dynamic models. The tasks of the position include the planning and execution of scientific experiments with complex control and automation technology, infrastructure monitoring, and the implementation of corresponding measurement systems.

The working group with its excellent infrastructure at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer and the project partners of the HyperBRIDGE research network are available to you for your research work. As part of the cooperation with Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and TSI University in Riga, Latvia, we offer you excellent supervision, outstanding facilities for application-oriented research, and an inspiring environment for the rapid and successful completion of your doctoral thesis. You will contribute to a climate-friendly society in an innovative field of research that is of outstanding importance for sustainability in the transport sector.

  • Scientific collaboration in the Interreg third-party funded project HyperBRIDGE for the development of future logistics solutions with the Hyperloop transport system
  • Interdisciplinary linking of physical and engineering issues
  • Development of design studies, simulation, and modeling of the test operation of Hyperloop applications using the goTube research infrastructure in Emden and the EHC in Veendam (NL)
  • Design and implementation of experiments and construction of demonstrators
  • Design, procurement, and integration of system components
  • Preparation and presentation of research results in appropriate media, publications, and at scientific conferences

Your profile:

  • Excellent university degree (master's, diploma), preferably in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or relevant engineering sciences
  • Motivation to research climate-friendly transport and logistics systems
  • Experience in experimental or engineering practice
  • Practical experience with programming languages
  • Knowledge of physical technologies, automation technology, or embedded software development, a high degree of flexibility, willingness to learn, and readiness for interdisciplinary cooperation and teamwork
  • Very good communication skills, both written and spoken, in German and English
