About the Position

The third‑party funded position is offered for a period of 3 years with the DFG‑funded project "Metaserve", developing a data profiling system that automatically finds patterns of structural metadata such as functional dependencies, key candidates and inclusion dependencies in relational data. The work is carried out in close cooperation with the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific services in research and teaching.
• Fulfil research and development tasks within the Metaserve project.
• Write publications on novel methods and scientific findings.
• Present at international conferences and workshops.
• Participate in teaching, supervising seminars and theses.

Qualifications

• Completed MSc (or equivalent) in computer science, data science or comparable field with a very good average grade.
• Basic prior knowledge of database technologies and familiarity with the relational data model, as well as data management disciplines such as integration, cleaning, transformation and distribution.
• Evidence of scientific work, e.g., a master’s thesis or a published paper.
• Strong programming skills, a solid understanding of algorithms and proven experience in software development.
• Interest in data‑driven research and software development; self‑motivated learning of new technologies.
• Good communication skills in English (spoken and written); teamwork orientation and high level of commitment.

Disposition to own a scientific qualification (for example a doctoral project in "Data Engineering") is expected.
