The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes belong to the Leibniz Association.

The position is intended to be filled by April 1, 2026.

The tasks of the position include:

• Collaborating with fellow team members on joint research projects and contributing to the publication of high-quality articles in leading statistics journals.
• Actively engaging with the broader Berlin mathematical statistics community by participating in collaborative initiatives, seminars, and networking activities.
• Presenting research findings at internal seminars as well as at national and international conferences.

We are looking for:

A postdoctoral researcher in the field of mathematical statistics, with a focus on nonparametric statistics, nonparametric Bayesian methods, and the mathematical foundations of machine learning. Candidates are expected to have a strong research profile in these areas and to be willing to contribute actively to our scientific collaborations and publication activities.

The position is remunerated in accordance with the TVöD Bund collective agreement and is limited until April 30, 2029. The working time is 39 hours per week.
