Start date: , fixed for a period of three years. The contract is a fixed‑term agreement in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed‑term labour contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). It may be extended for up to three additional years depending on the associate’s achievements during the first stage. If the position remains available and requirements are fulfilled, the associate may apply for temporary civil servant status under Section 28 subsection 2 HmbHG.

Duties include teaching and research within the department or institute. Research associates may also pursue independent research and acquire teaching experience. At least one‑third of the working hours must be dedicated to the associate’s own academic work.
The Postdoc will complement the research activities of the Experimental Marine Zooplankton Ecology group at IMF and is expected to develop a research concept tailored for short‑term (up to three years) and long‑term (up to six years) projects. The concept should address current and future impacts of global change on marine zooplankton communities (e.g., zooplankton responses to multiple stressors using experimental approaches ranging from small‑scale laboratory to larger‑scale mesocosm systems). Grant applications for third‑party funding from national and/or international agencies are required. The Postdoctoral Fellow should be active, open‑minded and contribute to the group’s activities.
Involvement in teaching and supervision within the BSc program (B‑MARSYS) and the MSc program (i‑MARSYS) at IMF, with 4 LVS (teaching hours per week during the lecture period of a semester), and willingness to supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students at IMF/University of Hamburg are prerequisite.
The candidate should be self‑motivated, reliable, organized, proactive, constructive, engaged in teaching and supervision, and possess a positive, team‑player attitude.
