Research Associate (Postdoc) (m/f/d)

The Comparative Politics research group at the SOCIUM Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy (Prof.Dr. Lukas Haffert) is seeking, as soon as possible a Research Associate (Postdoc) (m/f/d) . EG 13 TV-L, 100% (39,2 hours/week).

The position is a fixed-term position (in accordance with Section 2 of the WissZeitVG) to be filled until 31 December 2029. The position is suitable for part‑time work; details need to be arranged with SOCIUM.

The position is part of the research project “Knowledge, Epistemic Marginalization, and the Politics of Resentment” that is funded by the Swiss National Research Foundation (Co‑PI: Joachim Blatter, University of Luzern). A short summary of the project can be found here:

Responsibilities

• Active participation in the research project, in particular in the preparation of questionnaires and the implementation of surveys in Germany and Switzerland.
• Active role in the writing of internationally visible publications.
• Close cooperation with the project partner in Luzern.

Requirements

• Very good university degree (Diploma/Master’s) and PhD in political science or a comparable social science.
• Very good command of quantitative empirical methods.
• Experience in working with survey data.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken (CEF-level C1).
• Excellent command of German, both written and spoken (CEF-level C1).
• High motivation, ability to work in a team, creativity, and the ability to work independently.

Desirable skills and experience

• Interest in questions of political geography.
• Demonstrated research experience in political geography or political behavior.
• Experience with the design of questionnaires and survey.
• Interest in research stays, potentially with the project partner in Luzern.
