Research Associate / PostDoc (m/f/x)

TUD Dresden University of Technology invites applications for a Research Associate / PostDoc in the Junior Research Group Bioenergetics of Self-Organization (Dr. Xingbo Yang) within the Cluster of Excellence "Physics of Life" (PoL). The position is open for an immediate start, with a fixed-term contract ending on February 14, 2028. Employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV‑L.

The role focuses on a novel, highly interdisciplinary project investigating the bioenergetics of spindle self‑organization in mouse oocytes. The research will explore how energy availability influences spindle assembly and chromosome segregation, thereby contributing to our understanding of infertility mechanisms.

Tasks

Lead the independent and motivated postdoctoral effort on the spindle bioenergetics project.
Apply state‑of‑the‑art metabolic imaging, confocal spindle imaging, and biophysical modelling to map energy fluxes and ATP/ADP levels with sub‑cellular resolution.
Investigate how metabolic perturbations affect spindle morphology and dynamics, and their impact on chromosome segregation errors in meiosis.

Requirements

University degree and Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, physics or related fields.
Experience with metabolism or cytoskeleton research is desirable but not required.
Experience with mouse oocytes is an advantage.
Strong interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
