Research positions (1 Postdoc, 2 PhD) — DFG Research Unit “Bilingual Flexibility”

The Biological and Social Psychology group (Prof. Dr. Anna K. Kuhlen) at RWTH Aachen University invites applications for three positions within the DFG Research Unit “Bilingual Flexibility — The Psychology of Language Control”: one 4 year postdoc / Research Assistant/Associate (full-time) and two 4 year PhD positions (75% part-time, see full ads).

We study how bilingual speakers flexibly balance languages in social interaction using behavioural and neuroscientific methods (EEG). Successful candidates will join a collaborative Research Unit (RU) environment and contribute to projects on partner adapted lexical selection, language control, and the effects of background language on speech production.

Postdoc position (4 Years, Full Time)

Lead and co‑design behavioural & EEG experiments, co‑supervise PhD students, coordinate EEG lab operations, and develop RU infrastructure (data management, participant platform, events). Strong interest in bilingualism, solid experimental & programming skills and good organisational skills required; practical EEG experience advantageous.

PhD positions (4 Years, 75% or full time)

Conduct experimental and EEG studies on bilingual speech production and social interaction, analyse data, present and publish results, and participate in RU activities. Required: excellent master’s degree, programming and data analysis skills; EEG experience are advantageous.
