Are you passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence, physics, and engineering? Then join us in shaping the future of technical design and AI‑based simulation! In this position, you will actively contribute to the application and advancement of generative methods and physics‑informed learning for engineering problems. You will develop innovative approaches to intelligently generate and simulate complex technical systems – from hardware designs to molecular structures. Your responsibilities include:

Independent conduct and publication of research results at top international conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
Development and implementation of novel model and learning architectures
Co‑supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students
Presentation at international conferences and workshops

This scientific position offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD.

What you contribute

Excellent Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with PyTorch and/or JAX
Strong interest in engineering problems and motivation to explore new application domains
Experience with HPC infrastructure and collaborative tools (Git) is a plus
Deep expertise in one of the following areas:

Generative AI

Hands‑on experience with modern generative models, such as diffusion models and flow matching
Solid understanding of the theoretical foundations of generative methods
Experience implementing generative models for non‑standard data types
Ideally, experience in AI for Design

ML‑based simulations

Solid theoretical foundations in partial differential equations and numerical methods
Strong knowledge and experience with ML‑based simulation methods (e.g., PINNs, Neural Operators)
Ideally, practical experience with system identification methods (e.g., SINDy, PySR)

Publications, conference presentations, or other scientific activities are a plus (feel free to include publications with your application)
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a structured manner
Excellent written and spoken English skills
On‑site availability to foster creative collaboration among colleagues

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part‑time basis.
