Reserving Actuary Non-life (m/w/d) – Reserve Management & Actuarial Reporting (m/w/d)
Join us as a Reserving Actuary for Munich Re’s Global Central Reserving team, focusing on the loss reserve analyses for the group‑wide Non‑Life business. You will perform quantitative analyses, assess reserve uncertainty, and support financial reporting under IFRS 17, Solvency II and local GAAP.
YOUR JOB
- Collaborate with Global Reserving actuaries worldwide to ensure adequate reserve levels, consistent practices, and efficient reporting.
- Participate in peer reserve reviews and perform ad‑hoc actuarial analyses on various reserving topics.
- Conduct reserve valuations, variability assessments, scenario testing, benchmarking, and portfolio performance analysis.
- Contribute to the development of methodologies, concepts and tools used by the Global Oversight team.
- Monitor and analyze key reserve figures, preparing result communication for stakeholders.
- Identify and quantify reserve risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide guidance to Global Reserving actuaries.
- Collaborate with Integrated Risk Management to derive basic loss reserve risk and premium risk for the internal model.
- Prepare communication and address information needs on reserving topics for internal and external stakeholders such as board committees, analysts, investors, rating agencies and auditors.
YOUR PROFILE
- University degree in mathematics or a related quantitative field.
- Actuarial qualification (e.g., DAV, FIA, FCAS or equivalent) started or completed.
- At least 2 years of actuarial experience in loss estimation within Non‑Life.
- Knowledge of current reserving, pricing or underwriting trends in the global insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Strong data‑analysis skills with programming experience in R and SQL and proficiency in Excel, PowerBI and PowerQuery.
- Strategic thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with a solution‑oriented mindset.
- High accuracy and discretion with confidential matters.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Strong team player, enthusiastic to collaborate globally.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English.
