Within Network Operations, we are building a smart, lean, and high‑performing organization to operate, manage, and scale our high‑power EV charging network. As a Reverse Engineer, you will play a critical role in analyzing, deconstructing, and understanding the inner workings of IONITY’s charging hardware. Your primary focus will be on identifying vulnerabilities, troubleshooting failures, and developing solutions for improvement or remediation. You will support IONITY’s supply chain needs by conducting detailed failure analyses of critical components and exploring repair options, both in‑house and outsourced. Your work will help optimize quality and cost for consumables, ensuring seamless spare‑part availability throughout the lifetime of our HPC hardware across 24 European countries where IONITY’s network serves end customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reverse engineering of electronic devices, embedded systems.
  • Analyze root causes of hardware and software failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Challenge and analyze supplier 8D‑reports for defects and series faults.

  • Establish partnerships and relationships with electronic manufacturers helping to fix defective components or produce parts on behalf of IONITY.
  • Document findings, methodologies, and recommendations in technical reports.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with diverse experts from engineering to field service teams to share insights and improve product reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of all analysis, modifications, and inventory movements in management systems.
  • Assist in developing and refining reverse engineering procedures and safety protocols.
  • Participate in improvement projects and knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the department.
  • Extract, analyze, and update firmware and software from target equipment.

Your profile

  • Education: University degree or comparable technical degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field in production of electronics.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in reverse engineering, hardware analysis, or a similar technical role.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics, low‑voltage systems, and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters), software/hardware analysis tools, and debugging utilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Structured, self‑driven, and able to work independently.
  • Collaborative mindset working closely with diverse experts internally within IONITY as well as externally with suppliers of IONITY.
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong capabilities in English (spoken and written). German is a plus but not necessary.
  • Strong organizational and task management abilities, with experience in prioritizing topics and handling multiple requests in parallel.
