Omnisent

RF / Communications Engineer (f/m/d)

Omnisent München

Stellenbeschreibung:

Founded in late 2024, Omnisent is a Munich-based acoustic AI company developing next-generation sensing systems that turn sound into real-time intelligence. The team combines deep expertise in physics, machine learning, and mechanical engineering — united by a mission to unlock the untapped intelligence of the acoustic world.

At the core of Omnisent’s innovation are ultra-low-power sonic devices and the company’s Large Acoustic Model (LAM) — a foundation model trained on the complex world of non-speech audio. This unique combination enables the real-time detection, classification, and localization of acoustic events — whether identifying drones in contested airspace or tracing air leaks in manufacturing systems.

Tasks

  • Architect the RF backbone of a long-lived distributed sensing network for low-power, wide-area acoustic monitoring.
  • Design and optimize sub-GHz / LPWAN communication for multi-year battery operation across large distributed deployments.
  • Develop robust mesh or hybrid mesh–LPWAN strategies with self-healing, redundancy, and resilience in challenging environments.
  • Design and integrate embedded antennas into compact, ruggedized housings, collaborating closely with mechanical and electronics teams.
  • Implement interference-tolerant communication techniques suitable for real-world, noisy RF conditions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with ETSI/FCC/RED and regional spectrum requirements.
  • Co-design communication strategies with firmware teams to maximize power efficiency and reliability.
  • Lead RF prototyping and validation including lab testing and DFM-focused iteration for smooth production handoff.
  • Collaborate with EMS partners on manufacturing, test planning, and quality optimization.
  • Conduct real-world RF testing to evaluate range, performance, and environmental impacts.
  • Explore emerging LPWAN and sub-GHz technologies to keep Omnisent’s platform at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, RF Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in RF or wireless communications engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with sub‑GHz or LPWAN technologies.
  • Strong understanding of link budgets, modulation schemes, antennas, and RF propagation.
  • Skilled with RF lab tools (spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ETSI/RED or FCC frameworks and designing for successful compliance testing.
  • Comfortable collaborating cross‑functionally with firmware, electronics, mechanical, and cloud teams.
  • Strong communication skills in English (German a plus).
  • EU work authorization.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience taking RF systems from prototype to field deployment.
  • Background in interference mitigation or robust communication techniques.
  • Experience with DFM, DFT, and EMS collaboration.
  • Background in mission‑critical systems or industrial‑grade platforms.
  • Startup experience and a desire to help build something truly groundbreaking.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Highly competitive cash comp, along with virtual stock options, that reflect your experience and the value you bring.
  • Accelerated Learning & Growth: Join a fast‑paced environment where you’ll take on real responsibility, overcome meaningful challenges, and grow alongside a driven team.
  • Make a Real Impact: Play a key role in shaping Omnisent’s journey and contribute directly to the success of the company.

Join us in redefining how the world listens, understands, and responds through intelligent acoustic sensing.

In your cover letter, we’d love to hear about your personal interests, what drives you, why this role feels like the right fit — and most importantly, why Omnisent.
