Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands.³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.

About our Group

CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Role Overview - Software

The Functional Safety Expert is responsible for executing technical development activities in compliance with ISO 26262:2018. This includes all phases, Management, Concept, System, Software Safety, and Supporting Processes throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct impact analyses at both Item and Element levels.
• Support the creation and tailoring of Safety Plans in accordance with ISO 26262.
• Assist in supplier selection, DIA creation, and safety-related communication and alignment with external partners.
• Derive functional and technical safety requirements, ensuring completeness and consistency.
• Develop Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC), including safety mechanisms and error reaction strategies.
• Support ASIL decomposition, allocation of safety requirements, and their integration into system specifications.
• Derive software safety requirements.
• Define integration and test strategies for functional safety; select appropriate test methods per ISO 26262.
• Develop safety validation specifications and support confirmation and verification reviews.
• Review supplier FuSa work products across System, Software, and Hardware domains.
• Prepare safety cases and provide recommendations for safety release.

Job Requirement

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of Autosar Architecture
• Knowledge of automotive ECUs (ADAS, Inverter, power train, chassis, Body)
• Development/Testing Exp of at least one ASIL-B/ASIL-D
• Should be Certified ISO26262
• Expertise in automotive Ecu software development/Testing based on Classic or Adaptive autosar aligned to ISO26262- Part 6 Methodology.
• Good communication skills and stakeholder management skills
