CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Role Overview - Systems

The Functional Safety Expert is responsible for executing technical development activities in compliance with ISO 26262:2018. This includes all phases, Management, Concept, System, Software Safety, and Supporting Processes throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct impact analyses at both Item and Element levels.
• Support the creation and tailoring of Safety Plans in accordance with ISO 26262
• Assist in supplier selection, DIA creation, and safety-related communication and alignment with external partners.
• Contribute to the development of Item Definitions and Hazard Estimations; perform Hazard and Risk Analysis (HARA).
• Derive functional and technical safety requirements, ensuring completeness and consistency.
• Develop Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC), including safety mechanisms and error reaction strategies.
• Support ASIL decomposition, allocation of safety requirements, and their integration into system specifications.
• Derive software safety requirements.
• Conduct safety analysis activities such as FTA, FMEA, and Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA).
• Define integration and test strategies for functional safety; select appropriate test methods per ISO 26262.
• Develop safety validation specifications and support confirmation and verification reviews.
• Review supplier FuSa work products across System, Software, and Hardware domains.
• Prepare safety cases and provide recommendations for safety release
• Analysis Reliability Workbench, and IQ FMEA.

Job Requirement

Technical skills:

• Good Knowledge of Autosar Architecture
• Knowledge of automotive Ecus(ADAS, Inverter, power train, chassis, Body)
• Experience in System Development/Testing Exp of at least one ASIL-B/ASIL-D
• Should be Certified ISO26262
• Expertise in HARA /FMEA /FTA/FMEDA, Part-3 in ISO26262
• Expertise in modeling and developing TSC/TSR/FSR/system architecture and portioning aligned to iso26262

Good to have:

• Deep understanding of safety and development processes.
• Proficient in safety analysis methodologies.
• Familiarity with tools such as CodeBeamer/Doors, ArchE, Safety Analysis Reliability Workbench, and IQ FMEA.
