The Department of Immunobiochemistry at the Heidelberg University, Medical Faculty Mannheim is looking for a

Scientist / Postdoctoral-fellow (m/f/d) in the Excellence Cluster Synthimmune

Our department (head: Prof. Dr. Adelheid Cerwenka;) focuses on the research of (innate) immune cells and their exploitation in the immunotherapy for cancer and inflammatory diseases.

Your responsibilities:

• Perform, shape and further develop an exciting project with the goal to improve Natural Killer cell function in cancer.
• Identify functional modules required for high anti-tumor NK cell effector functions using cutting‑edge, state‑of‑the‑art large‑scale screening technologies, microfluidic analysis, CRISPR screens and functional assays.
• Use synthetic biology approaches to harness NK cell functions.
• Apply bioinformatic analysis and integration of patient data.
• Collaborate within network and projects of the Department of Immunobiochemistry.

Your profile:

• Doctorate e.g. in biochemistry, biology or related fields.
• Background in immunology (molecular biology or bioinformatics) is an advantage.
• Scientific curiosity, enthusiasm for science, strong motivation to understand in depth mechanisms in immunology.
• Strong communication skills within our network, project management skills, team player.
