Tasks

We are looking for a visionary Senior Backend Engineer (m / f / d) with a passion for artificial intelligence and a drive to solve complex problems. You will play a pivotal role in developing an intelligent infrastructure that automatically aggregates data from diverse sources to accurately answer compliance questions. We’re focusing on practical implementation over lengthy planning cycles. We value engineers who can balance speed with quality and take ownership of their work. You will fundamentally shape the architecture of our AI applications, enhance our models, and build scalable integrations that guarantee a seamless service for our customers. Your work will directly contribute to transforming an entire industry.

Your tasks

• Architect, build and iterate quickly: develop features and proof‑of‑concepts using Python/FastAPI, test with real users, and scale what works.
• Enhance Our AI Models: collaborate closely with our AI specialists to continuously improve and fine‑tune our models (especially LLMs) through smart data engineering, GenAI evaluation techniques, and feedback loops.
• Build Scalable Integrations: design and implement secure, scalable APIs and integrations with third‑party systems (e.g., ERPs, PIMs, customer platforms) to ensure a seamless flow of data.
• Ship features end‑to‑end: from initial prototype to production deployment using AWS CDK / CloudFormation and GitHub Actions.
• Ensure Scalability and Performance: take ownership of the backend architecture to keep our AI applications performant and secure as data volumes and user numbers grow.
• Collaborate on Product Innovation: work closely with product management and the frontend team to bring innovative AI‑powered features from idea to production and help shape the technical roadmap.

Requirements

• Excellent Backend Expertise: deep hands‑on experience in backend development, ideally with Python or TypeScript/.NET; write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code.
• Strong implementation focus: prefer writing code to lengthy discussions and can quickly turn ideas into working prototypes.
• Solid AI / ML experience: hands‑on experience with LangChain RAG systems and production LLM deployments.
• Data and API proficiency: skilled in designing and developing APIs (FastAPI REST) and experienced with data aggregation, ETL processes, or data pipelines.
• Architectural mindset: strong understanding of cloud architectures (e.g., GCP, AWS) and microservices; know how to design scalable and resilient systems.
• SaaS experience: have worked on B2B SaaS applications and understand associated challenges regarding security, multi‑tenancy, and scalability.
• You build it, you run it mentality: take ownership of your work, act proactively, and drive features to perfection and deploy them successfully.
• Fluent in English: our company language is English to ensure seamless communication within the team. German language skills are a plus but not required.
