We are looking for a passionate Senior Backend Engineer to strengthen our growing cloud team.

Quantum Systems specialises in the development of small Unmanned Aerial Systems. We integrate edge computing and AI‑driven data processing to build next‑generation UAS for defence and security sectors.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, high‑performance backend services for our aerial data solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand and implement product requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code following best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues to ensure system uptime and stability.
• Stay up‑to‑date with backend technologies and cloud trends.
• Contribute to overall architecture and design of backend systems.
• Mentor and guide junior developers to help them grow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development (Java/.Net).
• Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain applications using Java and Spring.
• Deep expertise in Azure cloud offerings (App Service, Functions, Cosmos DB); exposure to GCP or AWS is a plus.
• Strong experience building cloud‑based backend systems.
• Expertise with relational databases and SQL; performance tuning, schema design, query optimization.
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and PKCE.
• In‑depth knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience with data processing pipelines is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
