Senior Backend Engineer, Growth Alliance(m/f/d)

The role

The Pricing team is the backbone of our financial infrastructure in HelloFresh. We are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core pricing systems that power every order creation across the organization. We own several critical backend services for the Customer Value Optimization Tribe, and our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and extensibility of our end-to-end Pricing ecosystem. The primary responsibility of a Senior Backend Engineer in the Pricing squad is to lead further development of the core backend services & ensure that pricing services remain scalable, resilient, and secure. This role also involves close collaboration with engineers from many other teams across the organization to provide seamless, accurate pricing for both existing and new customers.

What you’ll do

• Take ownership of the end-to-end process, including architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines, applying DevOps practices, pair programming, and other cutting-edge methodologies.
• Actively contribute as a solution-oriented member within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with product owners.
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh's core product and architecture, serving as an ambassador for software solutions and providing support and mentorship to colleagues.
• Work with state-of-the-art technologies such as AWS Cloud, Go/Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, Istio, and more.

What you’ll bring

• Strong backend development skills in a microservices architecture, with proficiency in one of the following languages: Golang, Java, or Kotlin.
• Hands-on knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools, particularly Docker and Kubernetes, and a solid understanding of CI/CD principles, with practical exposure to modern deployment pipelines.
• Familiarity with software design and testing methodologies such as TDD, BDD, DDD, and distributed system patterns.
• Well-versed in the full development lifecycle—from writing unit and integration tests to profiling, tuning, and deploying distributed applications.
• Proficiency in working with relational databases and experience with event-driven systems.
• Prior experience in the Pricing domain will be a plus.
