Senior Credit Manager (d/f/m) – Solaris SE
Solaris SE is a tech company with a full German banking license that offers Banking-as-a-Service solutions via APIs. We are a global team of over 500 professionals spanning tech, finance and entrepreneurship.
Role Overview
The Senior Credit Manager will oversee manual and automated underwriting, manage credit portfolio, and drive credit risk initiatives across our partner ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Manual Underwriting
- Structure credit transactions.
- Assess and approve credit transactions in line with OHB and external regulatory framework.
- Perform, optimize and maintain the credit approval process.
- Setup and maintain manual credit file management.
- Review and update credit files regularly.
- Automated Underwriting
- Assist in setting criteria for Decision Engine.
- Align conceptual consistency of underwriting principles.
- Credit Portfolio Steering
- Prepare regular qualitative portfolio reviews with action proposals to keep credit risk exposure within appetite.
- Run ad-hoc assessments to maintain risk appetite.
- Monitor partnership team actions regarding dunning, workout, collection actions.
- Responsible for closing audit findings in the respective focus area.
- Train CRM and Solaris staff on underwriting principles.
- Project related tasks e.g. development of new loan products.
Qualifications
- Educational degree, ideally focused on economics, business administration, banking or a comparable qualification.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in credit risk management at a bank or financial institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in credit underwriting.
- Experience with financial products such as credit loans, process setup and loan documentation, credit risk management and/or credit structuring.
- Experience in regulatory requirements for the respective focus area.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Python, Tableau and/or HTML are a strong advantage.
- Fluent English language skills; German language skills is a plus.
- Hands‑on “driving the change” mindset.
- Reliable, solution‑oriented, independent working method.
- Used to working under pressure / on tight deadlines.
- Stakeholder management for multiple tasks and good communication skills.
- Passion for credit and keen on improving “old‑fashioned” processes with new approaches and technology.
Working Model
- You’re based in Berlin, or willing to commute to Berlin a few days each month for stakeholder collaboration, team projects, etc.
