Stellenbeschreibung:

Amsterdam, Netherlands; Berlin, Germany; Limassol, Cyprus; Paphos, Cyprus; Prague, Czech Republic; Remote, Germany; Warsaw, Poland; Yerevan, Armenia

At JetBrains, code is our passion. Ever since we started in 2000, we have strived to make the strongest, most effective developer tools on earth. Our tools speed up production by automating routine checks and corrections, freeing developers to grow, discover, and create.

We’re currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Kotlin Ecosystem team.

Our team’s domain is somewhat unconventional: We work with data that is generated by IDEs but describes how the Kotlin language and its tooling are used. In other words, we look at the programming language through the lens of the IDE. This imposes certain constraints on analytics – for example, it’s challenging to run A/B tests. As a result, we often have to think creatively about how to measure various impacts.

As part of our team, you will:

  • Shape and implement the department’s analytics strategy – this includes continuing the transition to self‑service and implementing company‑wide data management tools (e.g., Astronomer instead of Airflow, and Athena instead of PostgreSQL) in collaboration with the Data Office.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and mentor one other data analyst, including but not limited to conducting in‑depth reviews of their code (mostly SQL, but also small chunks of Python), contributing to their professional development, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Figure out how to measure technical innovations (e.g., improvements in a build system or reductions in compilation time) at the product level when direct measurement is impossible due to technical limitations (A/B experimentation is not possible).

We’d be happy to have you on our team if you have:

  • A solid knowledge of SQL, with Trino's dialect being preferable.
  • Basic Python skills, as we are responsible for maintaining a small piece of Python infrastructure.
  • Basic management skills, such as backlog management and the ability to communicate with highly technical personnel.
  • At least three years of experience in data analytics.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

We’d be especially thrilled if you have:

  • Knowledge in the field of software development (compilers and build systems).
  • Experience with Airflow and/or Astronomer.
  • Basic knowledge of Kotlin and Java.

In our team, you’ll enjoy:

  • Working side by side with talented engineers.
  • A non‑standard domain that offers a refreshing change from classic product analytics.
