What you’ll do:

• Build autonomous operations capabilities within the Apeiro Reference Architecture as part of the EU IPCEI-CIS initiative, reducing manual incident response and enabling predictive detection across distributed cloud‑edge environments.
• Design and implement core components of the autonomous operations platform, building Kubernetes‑native operators and controllers that enable self‑healing infrastructure and integrate AI/ML services for anomaly detection and root‑cause analysis.
• Implement standardized incident reporting systems, build operators that convert AI recommendations into deterministic infrastructure fixes, and create knowledge‑base systems for run‑book automation.
• Improve observability integration, AI service consumption patterns, and cost‑aware usage controls for SAP’s global cloud infrastructure.

What you bring:

Must‑have skills:

• 5+ years of professional programming experience (Go, Python, Java) building distributed systems focused on infrastructure automation and cloud‑native applications.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes operators, CRDs, and custom controllers using controller‑runtime or Operator SDK.
• Experience with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, timeseries databases, and distributed tracing systems.
• Networking knowledge: IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, L2/L3 firewalls, routing protocols, DNS.
• Understanding of AI/ML service integration, API consumption, and interpreting model outputs.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, IaC (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, Terraform), and GitOps workflows.
• Fluency in English and German.

Nice‑to‑have skills:

• Resilience patterns for distributed system failure modes and designing for unreliable infrastructure.
• Experience with web frameworks such as Angular, React, Vue.js and TypeScript.
