Senior Director, Food Safety and Quality

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Food Safety and Quality to lead our comprehensive food safety and quality assurance programs. This senior position will oversee all aspects of food safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, and risk management in our meal kit operations across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food manufacturing, strong leadership capabilities, and deep expertise in food safety regulations and quality management systems.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of elevating and embedding food safety and quality culture and processes throughout a complex organization with multiple locations across Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

Joining our Procurement and FSQA team based at our Head Office in Berlin, with regular travel to our facilities across Europe. You will report to the SVP Supply Chain Procurement and FSQA.

What you'll do: The Recipe

• Lead cross-functional, international teams to ensure integration of quality and safety standards throughout all operations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive food safety and quality strategies aligned with company objectives, including onboarding new suppliers and ingredients.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant food safety regulations and standards, including inspections, audits, and certifications.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing food safety and quality team.
• Champion implementation of new technologies and digital solutions for quality management, as well as contribute to global platform harmonization across the entire supply chain. 
• Lead process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency while maintaining safety standards.
• Leverage data (from audit/customer complaints/root cause analysis) to develop and implement sustainable corrective/preventative actions.
• Keep up to date with new legislation and industry practices and incorporate them into our systems and processes as required, as well as actively lobbying regulators for positive change.

What you'll bring: The Ingredients

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related technical field
• Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in food safety and quality roles within food manufacturing
• At least 5 years of senior management experience leading large, diverse teams across geographies. 
• Deep knowledge of relevant food safety regulations
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performance teams
• Strong understanding of food microbiology, chemistry, and processing technologies, with knowledge of laboratory operations and analytical testing methods
• Strong project management and change management capabilities
• Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and with external partners
• Strategic thinking with strong business acumen
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
