(Senior) Director of Data Platform

Our client is looking for a Senior Director to lead the build of their domain data platform, one of the most strategically significant initiatives across their group.

This is a platform leadership role at scale. The successful candidate will own the data strategy, define the governance model, and lead the technical and organisational effort to bring a group-wide data platform to life. What they need now is the leader who will execute with rigour and build a world-class capability around it.

This role sits at the centre of a complex, multi-entity group, leading a central team while working with distributed resources across the business.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

• Refine and own the domain data strategy, ensuring it is commercially grounded, clearly prioritised, and aligned to group-level objectives
• Lead the end-to-end development of an internal data platform, ingesting, consolidating, and governing data assets from across multiple brands and business units
• Define and implement a robust data governance model, covering ownership, quality standards, access controls, and data lifecycle management
• Roll out governance frameworks across the group in a way that drives genuine adoption
• Build and lead a central team, scaling from an initial cohort to a larger organisation of people as the platform matures
• Manage distributed resources embedded across the broader business, aligning them to platform priorities without direct authority
• Act as the executive voice for domain data, influencing senior stakeholders and navigating organisational complexity to protect strategic outcomes

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our client is seeking a technically credible, commercially minded leader with a track record of building, not just operating, data platforms at scale.

• Demonstrable experience building a domain or enterprise data platform from the ground up, covering architecture, delivery, and adoption
• Strong data governance expertise with experience designing and embedding standards and ownership models across large organisations
• Proven ability to lead distributed, cross-functional teams in matrixed environments
• A builder\'s mindset: energised by ambiguity, comfortable with complexity, and focused on outcomes over process
• Executive presence and the stakeholder skills to operate credibly at Senior Director level

Advantageous

• Experience scaling a data team through a high-growth or platform-build phase
• Familiarity with product-facing or customer-facing data products, not just internal tooling
• A track record of working across multiple entities or business units within a group structure
