On the Market Analysis team, you'll influence decisions in asset valuation, pricing, structuring, market entry, risk, and product design, collaborating with engineers, finance, and commercial teams. Ideal candidates are deeply curious about electricity markets, adapt quickly to diverse designs and policies, guide decisions in uncertainty, communicate insights across levels, and understand battery revenue drivers under various scenarios.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain Tesla's long‑term view of market fundamentals and prices in wholesale electricity markets
- Create long‑term revenue forecasts using a blend of internal modeling tools, vendor forecasts, and expert judgments
- Act as a technical representative for the team in discussions with prospective customers, sharing our forward‑looking market perspectives
- Monitor market design and policy initiatives to evaluate their mid‑ to long‑term impacts on storage monetization
- Contribute to project structuring and offer design for energy storage applications
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in areas like utility‑scale battery investment analysis, long‑term price forecasting, or quantitative electricity market modeling.
- Expertise in at least one key European electricity market (e.g., UK, Germany, or France), with keen interest in expanding to others.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing complex datasets to uncover insights and trends.
- Hands‑on experience running production cost models and long‑term capacity expansion simulations.
- Background in modeling energy storage market applications through simulated market dispatch.
- Experience on a power trading desk or equivalent exposure to real‑time operations.
- Demonstrated track record of influencing investment or trading decisions through your own market analysis and insights.
