Job Description

We are on the lookout for a Senior Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to join the mission-critical Orders Success Squad within Delivery Hero's Vendor Growth Product Line. As a Senior Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our global operations, responsible for processing approximately 7 million food and grocery orders every day. This is a hands-on role where you'll drive best practices in development, architecture, deployments, stability, observability, and performance for our central services.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within the Orders Success Squad to ensure reliable, scalable services for Vendor Growth.


• Design, implement, and maintain backend services in Java and Kotlin, with a focus on performance and resilience.


• Build and enforce best practices across development, architecture, deployments, testing, and monitoring.


• Improve stability and observability of central services to support millions of daily orders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong preference for distributed systems and hands-on proficiency with Java, Kotlin, and frameworks like Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit.


• Deep expertise in service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns, including troubleshooting and optimizing scalable systems.


• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP & AWS: RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, CloudWatch, EC2, SQS, SNS, Cognito, Kinesis).


• Proficiency with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, Drone, Travis CI, CircleCI).


• Demonstrated expertise in writing high-quality tests (unit, integration, E2E).


• Willingness to contribute to the on-call roster to ensure system reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance optimization techniques (caching, SQL query optimization, monitoring, profiling).


• Familiarity with error reporting and monitoring tools (Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, New Relic).


• Interest in understanding or contributing to frontend logic (ReactJS, Native Android, Flutter).
