Your responsibilities
- Delivery & Excellence: Collaborate with key stakeholders, represent the team’s engineering perspective on feasibility, cost‑effectiveness, scalability, and time‑to‑market aspects of new or existing services and products. Ensure roadmaps align with priorities, new features are appropriately broken down for regular and timely delivery, maintain existing ones, and establish high engineering excellence metrics. Provide strong technical oversight by actively contributing to resolving technical issues and challenges, participating in code reviews, system design discussions, and occasionally engaging in hands‑on coding to support team members. Drive continuous improvement of the team’s processes, practices and technology to sustain high‑pace, high‑quality delivery.
- People Leadership: Inspire, develop, recruit, and motivate a cross‑functional engineering team. Conduct regular 1:1s with team members, set individual development or improvement plans, and foster a healthy, non‑retaliatory feedback culture.
- Team Management: Partner with Product Management to jointly oversee the team’s strategy, quarterly goals, and business‑technical metrics. Optimize the development process methodology, build and maintain the technical roadmap, and take ownership of technical incident management. Allocate resources for quality efforts, maintain knowledge bases and documentation for the team’s services, and coordinate planning with Senior Engineering Managers and Craft Leads.
- Manage growth: Navigate change and collaboratively discover innovative solutions with your team and various stakeholders within a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Strategic Leadership: Guide the strategic direction of the team’s engagements, collaborating with stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of technical architecture, potential challenges, and aligning the team’s work with broader organizational goals.
Qualities we look for
- Proven Scale‑Up Experience: Track record of scaling an engineering organization, ideally one focused on machine learning or AI products, through a high‑growth phase.

- Deep Technical Credibility: Technical depth to lead and guide senior engineers working on complex AI systems, with an understanding of the machine learning development lifecycle.
- Leadership, Not Just Management: Immediate, experienced leadership to navigate the unique challenges of applied research and development. Not suitable for first‑time managers.
