EU-funded Project: Technical Assistance for the Implementation of the Support Project to the EU–China Agricultural Cooperation
ADT Project Consulting GmbH is a German consulting firm specialising in technical assistance and advisory services in agriculture, agribusiness, veterinary and food safety, rural development, and agricultural policy. Since 1995, ADT has implemented projects for governments, public institutions, and international donors in more than 60 countries. Our key clients include the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH), the European Union, GIZ, FAO, World Bank, USAID, and other public donors.
For an upcoming EU-funded technical assistance project supporting EU–China agricultural cooperation, we are currently looking for a Senior Expert in Agribusiness and Agricultural Markets.
Project Context and Objectives
The project supports the implementation of the EU–China Agricultural Cooperation under the EU programme “Promoting EU interests and values in China and engaging China on global challenges”. The assignment aims to strengthen cooperation between the EU and China in agriculture, trade, green transition, and rural development by providing high-level technical assistance and policy advisory.
Key objectives include:
- Supporting EU–China dialogue on agriculture, agribusiness, and trade
- Strengthening market access, value chains, and sustainable agrifood systems
- Promoting EU standards, best practices, and policy approaches
- Facilitating cooperation between public and private sector actors
- Contributing to green transition, food safety, and consumer protection
The project is expected to start in April 2026 with an implementation period of 36 months and is financed by the European Union (NDICI – Global Europe).
Your Profile
- University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in agricultural economics, agricultural sciences, business administration, trade, development economics, or a related field
- At least 10 years of professional experience
- Proven experience in project management, management of complex processes, and intercultural cooperation
- Close professional exposure to the German and Chinese agricultural sectors
- Excellent written and spoken English
Additional Qualifications (Asset)
- In-depth knowledge of agribusiness, agricultural value chains, and market analysis
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the agribusiness sector, preferably in international or development cooperation projects
- Experience working with public and private stakeholders
- Knowledge of the Chinese agricultural and food sector or professional experience in China or East Asia
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills
- Confident negotiation skills and experience engaging with high-level partners and institutionsExcellent communication, facilitation, and moderation skills
- Knowledge of German is desirable
- Knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) is a strong asset
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical advisory services on agribusiness, agricultural markets, and value chains in the context of EU–China cooperation
- Support the preparation and implementation of market-oriented and policy-relevant studies, analyses, and recommendations
- Contribute to the design and implementation of activities related to market access, sustainable agriculture, food safety, and green transition
- Facilitate dialogue and cooperation between EU and Chinese public institutions, private sector actors, and international stakeholders
- Support coordination of project activities and ensure coherence across technical components
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, policy briefs, and technical documents
- Represent the project in meetings, workshops, and high-level consultations
- Support knowledge sharing, communication, and visibility of EU best practices and approaches
