(Senior) Fact-Checker & Researcher (all genders)

Location: preferably Munich or Berlin, Remote possible

Employment: Full-time (40h/5 days) or Part-time (32h/4 days) possible

What you will do

• Pre‑research for scripts: researching content for scripts, identifying interesting aspects and summarizing them in text form
• Pre‑research topics for merch products and digital/interactive products
• Collect and evaluate scholarly sources and technical literature
• Fact‑check to uncover any errors or discrepancies between sources
• Create source documents and annotated source lists, ensuring quality standards for our source documents
• Select and contact scientists and experts for additional evaluation of sources and content (similar to a peer review process)
• Adhere to and ensure short‑form quality standards in relation to our scripts and merch projects
• Guardian of the facts and preserver of scientific rigour

What you are best known for

• Degree preferably in physics, natural or social sciences or science journalism; bonus points for strong background in statistics or data treatment
• Available for work at least 32 hours per week – unfortunately, we’re unable to consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program
• At least three years of professional experience in the field of science journalism or comparable activity
• Experience in scientific work and research
• Ability to prepare scientific texts in a concise and comprehensible manner
• Experienced in the use of research tools and English primary sources
• Ability to familiarize yourself quickly and thoroughly with a wide range of topics
• Succinct, quality‑conscious, independent and structured way of working
• Persistence and you do not settle for the first best answer
• Enthusiasm for scientific work that has a positive impact on potentially millions of people
• Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken
