Role Overview

Title : Senior Full Stack Developer – Ruby on Rails & React (m/f/d)
Team : Apps‑Team (Shopify Apps) – Engineering
Location : Remote within Germany; optional office in Bochum or Berlin
Reporting to : Dev‑Lead & Founder (Dave)
Team size : 12 developers (growing to 14)

Key Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end development of new and existing Shopify apps (Rails + React)
• Plan scalable, maintainable architectures and drive major refactorings
• Translate product requirements into pragmatic technical solutions
• Implement, review and improve automated testing and CI workflows
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing
• Proactively identify technical debt and schedule remediation work
• Act as the first technical contact for Product Managers on feasibility questions

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 3+ years full‑time experience with Ruby on Rails and React in production
• Strong PostgreSQL, Git, and automated testing skills (RSpec preferred)
• Proven mentoring / code‑review experience with junior developers
• Fluent German (C1) and solid English (B2)
• Ownership mindset with proactive communication

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Shopify app development experience
• GraphQL and broader API design/consumption
• Cloud‑native SaaS environments

• No German language proficiency
• Pure frontend or backend specialist (not full stack)
• Bootcamp‑only education with <5 years relevant experience
• Lack of evidence for mentoring or team enablement

Compensation

Base salary €55,000 – €80,000 gross per annum, plus ~1 % variable bonus annually (performance based).

Contract Details

Probation 6 months. Full‑time, 40 h per week, open‑ended contract. 28 vacation days (+ half days on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve).
