Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer – Nuremberg, Germany
Our client is a fast-growing, product-led telecom software leader trusted by mobile operators worldwide. We are supporting them in the recruitment of a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to lead a modern, VMware-driven environment. In this role, you will design, implement, and run scalable, secure infrastructure across servers, networking, and IT operations, keeping services fast and reliable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, translate business needs into technical solutions, and drive continuous improvement that users feel every day.

What you’ll doDesign, run, and optimise virtualised environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi; vSAN nice to have).Manage core server infrastructure across Windows and Linux, incl. backups (Veeam) and DR.Own on-site networking: switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN performance.Administer storage / data centre components (strong HPE footprint; DataCore experience valued).Lead endpoint services for employees (laptops/desktops), ensuring great on-site support for a highly mobile workforce.Implement and maintain security controls and compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR); exposure to CASB/Netskope is a plus.Produce clear documentation (architectures, SOPs, diagrams) and drive standardisation/automation.Handle vendor and contract management; coordinate partners and internal teams.Serve as a senior stakeholder for Germany, with occasional global initiatives.
What you’ll bringSeveral years’ hands-on infrastructure experience spanning servers, networking, storage, and EUC.Strong VMware skills (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).Solid Windows and Linux administration.Networking fundamentals at pace: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing/switching, firewalls, VPN.Backup & recovery experience (Veeam).Security mindset; familiarity with CASB/Netskope or similar tools is valuable.Excellent troubleshooting, communication, presentation, and stakeholder skills.Certifications like VCP or CCNA are a plus; cloud exposure (AWS/Azure) nice to have.English is the working language; German is not required.
Location & ways of workingNuremberg (onsite-first): typically 3 days in office / 2 days from home.
