Senior Lead Developer & Integration Architect (SAP CRM / IS-U)

Role Description

We are looking for new colleagues on a fulltime base (40 h/week). The base will be in our HQ in Essen, Frankfurt a. Main, Munich, or Nuremberg on a hybrid working model with possibilities to work within Europe. Occasional travel is also part of work.

Our best‑shore model combines local expertise in Germany and Europe with nearshore teams in Slovakia and offshore excellence in Vietnam and India.

In addition to maintaining and stabilizing SAP CRM/IS-U landscapes, we are actively driving the transformation to S/4HANA Utilities. This offers you the opportunity to work on both legacy system landscapes and modern S/4‑based utilities solutions.

Responsibilities

• Development & Architecture
• Design and develop applications in CRM/IS-U and S/4HANA Utilities (e.g., quotation & campaign management, lead management, digital contracting).
• Extend SAP CRM WebUI/ICWC interfaces and build Fiori apps for S/4U scenarios.
• Implement solutions with ABAP OO, OData/Gateway, Workflows, BRF+.
• Integration & Interfaces
• Own and optimize CRM Middleware (BDOC/PI) and integration paths into S/4 environments.
• Analysis, prioritization, and sustainable resolution of incidents and problems (incident & problem management).
• Execution and coordination of corrections, optimizations, and minor enhancements (continuous improvement).
• Root cause analysis including the derivation of structural improvements (e.g., code quality, performance, stability).
• Close collaboration with business departments, application support, Basis/DevOps teams, and external service providers.
• Build stable data integrations and support migration activities. Ensure system performance and reliability.
• Innovation & Delivery
• Contribute to the S/4 Utilities roadmap in major transformation projects (e.g., migration, cloud architecture).
• Use dedicated sandbox and vanilla test environments for prototyping, proof‑of‑concepts, and exploration of new technologies.
• Work in agile project setups (Scrum/SAFe) and coach nearshore/offshore developers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SAP CRM/IS-U development.
• Strong skills in ABAP OO , OData/Gateway , BRF+ , and Workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with CRM WebUI/ICWC customizations.
• Practical experience in S/4HANA Utilities projects (migrations, Fiori app development, data models, IS‑U → S/4U processes).
• Solid understanding of energy & utilities processes (e.g., quotation, contracting, KKM, campaigns, B2C/B2B).
• Languages: German (C2) and English (fluent) .
• Comfortable working in agile, multicultural delivery environments .

Nice‑to‑have

• Experience with digital contracting and document generation.
• UI5/Fiori experience
• Knowledge of Inspire or similar tools.
• Exposure to Generative AI/LLM integration into business processes.
• Basic knowledge of SAP BTP (e.g., extensions, integration services, CAP) and SAP Joule (AI copilot).
