About the Team

The team safeguards Unzer’s performance and reputation by proactively managing enterprise‑wide operational and financial risks, providing independent oversight, embedding the risk framework, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong risk culture – enabling informed decisions and sustainable growth within risk appetite. Unzer is a customer‑centric organization, so the Senior Operational Enterprise Risk Manager is fully aware of who the customers are and sets a high standard in striving to have all operational enterprise risk processes, documentation, and ways of working be customer‑first, pragmatic, and solution‑oriented.

  • Identify, address, and close gaps in the risk framework by proactively designing, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions, changes, or preventive measures for complex or novel risk scenarios.
  • Independently assess, review, and continually improve the risk management framework to align with changing regulatory, risk, and control needs.
  • Take ownership of developing, updating, and maintaining risk policies, guidelines, and related documentation.
  • Lead and conduct comprehensive risk analyses; evaluate the effectiveness of existing control systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings and recommendations to multiple stakeholders.
  • Prepare for and support both internal and external audits, including regulatory audits, to ensure robust coordination and full compliance across all teams.
  • Design, implement, and monitor risk awareness training programs, promoting a proactive and accountable risk culture throughout the organization.
  • Support junior team members to foster and improve knowledge within the team.
  • Collaborate independently with Group Risk Control functions on projects, tasks, and various enterprise risk‑related initiatives.

What you need to be successful in this role

  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements concerning operational enterprise risk.
  • Proven track record with internal control systems and enterprise risk management frameworks, and a solid understanding of payment/financial services and/or acquiring business operations is considered an advantage.
  • Exposed to and possessing an excellent understanding of relevant European regulations, with emphasis on German, Luxembourg, and/or Danish requirements.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the fields of enterprise risk, risk control, risk management, audit, or consulting.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and clearly present conclusions and plans to a range of stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
