Role: Senior Process Development Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Development Engineer to join our medical device client. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and managing the supply chain for plastic components. You will work closely with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to ensure the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of plastic materials used in our products. This role requires strong engineering expertise in plastics, a keen understanding of supply chain processes, and the ability to drive supplier development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize the supply chain for plastic materials and components
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, performance, and cost-efficiency of plastic components
- Conduct technical assessments and audits of supplier capabilities
- Identify and qualify new suppliers for plastic materials, ensuring they meet technical specifications and company standards
- Lead problem-solving initiatives to resolve technical and supply chain issues related to plastic components
- Work closely with the procurement team to negotiate contracts, agreements, and pricing with suppliers
- Analyze and evaluate materials and processes to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, to support product development and manufacturing processes
- Participate in project planning and ensure timely execution of supply development strategies
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and reports on supplier performance and development activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of plastic materials, manufacturing processes, and applications
- Experience in supplier development, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on plastics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical and supply chain issues
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written German & English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of project management principles and tools
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and regulatory standards related to plastics
- Experience in plastic injection molding, extrusion, or other plastic manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in supplier qualification and audit processes
