Senior Process Engineer (m/f/d) – Bioprocess / Fermentation / Biotechnology

Location: Niebüll,Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Your Role

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will drive the optimization and development of industrial bioprocess and fermentation systems. You will act as a technical expert for process engineering and production technologies, working closely with operations, engineering and international project teams to improve efficiency, reliability and product quality.

• Optimize bioprocess and fermentation production systems (upstream & downstream)
• Identify and solve process engineering and production issues
• Develop and implement process optimization and scale-up solutions
• Support capital investment (CapEx) projects from concept to commissioning
• Create and review process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, specifications)
• Perform mass and energy balance calculations
• Support equipment design, selection and sizing
• Define process control strategies in collaboration with automation teams
• Support FAT/SAT and commissioning activities
• Contribute to process safety management (HIRA, MOC, PSSR)

• Master's degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering or related field
• Several years of experience in:
  • Industrial biotechnology / fermentation
  • Process engineering / bioprocess engineering
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Batch processing systems
  • Bioprocess equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems)
• Experience with fermentation or microbial production systems
• Familiarity with GMP or food safety standards (e.g. FSSC22000)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluent German and English
• Willingness to travel within EMEA
