Senior Product Engineer – Ashby

Remote, full‑time, mid‑senior level role focused on building product‑centric features for a growth‑stage SaaS platform.

Overview

Ashby is a high‑growth startup serving thousands of talent‑acquisition teams worldwide. As a senior product engineer you will own product initiatives from conception to delivery, research competitors, write product specs, create wireframes, and build end‑to‑end solutions. You will work with designers, product managers, and other engineers in an environment that values ownership, minimal process, and rapid iteration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build large‑scale product features such as automated interview scheduling, a declarative filter architecture, and in‑app offer signing.
• Research competitors and customer needs to define product requirements.
• Write clear product specs, wireframes, and high‑quality code that integrates with back‑end services.
• Own projects end‑to‑end, balancing speed and quality while communicating progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Comfortable tackling any part of the stack, from front‑end to back‑end.
• Experience delivering product features in a technically ambiguous environment.
• Ability to strike the right balance between speed and quality in a fast‑moving context.
• Ambitious, eager to grow your skills, and receptive to feedback.
• Excellent collaborator and communicator, able to keep stakeholders informed and work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Passionate about building reusable abstractions and tooling that increase engineering leverage.
• Preferably 3–5+ years of senior engineering experience.

Interview Process

1. Introduction call with hiring manager (15–30 min, live).
2. Technical screen – pair‑program in our codebase (1 hour, live).
3. Three non‑coding interviews covering product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈3 h 15 min, live; may span multiple days).

Technology Stack

TypeScript (frontend & backend), React, GraphQL, Node.js, Postgres, Redis. Prior experience is not required; we value ability to learn typed languages.
