(Senior) Product Engineer

comstruct ICT GmbH WorkFromHome

Stellenbeschreibung:

comstruct is a young construction tech startup founded in March 2022. With a team of three co-founders from diverse backgrounds, we are building the data layer for the construction industry. We recently secured a €12.5M seed financing round from prestigious VCs, including 20VC and Google Ventures, along with top European investors.

This means early access to the latest large language models, exposure to some of the worlds best advisors and builders, exclusive events, and more. We already serve nine of Switzerland's ten largest contractors as customers and now expanded to Germany. With our vertical construction focus and industry knowledge, we aim to digitize an industry that to this date runs largely on paper.

We are looking for a talented and driven full-time (Senior) Product Engineer to join our Integrations team. You’ll play a pivotal role in expanding and scaling our Integrations platform, and help it morph into comstruct’s Data Processing system.

Our team builds the systems that ingest material delivery notes from customer suppliers via email, APIs, and web portals.

We are on a journey to become comstruct’s Data Processing team. This means expanding our scope to own the ingestion, processing, and integration of all critical data, including invoices and external ERP systems.

As a hybrid company, we value in-person collaboration and expect employees to work from our Munich office 3 days a week.

What you will do ️

  • Build & Maintain Integrations: You will develop the adapters and logic to ingest material delivery notes from diverse sources, including emails, APIs, and web portals, ensuring data flows correctly into our platform.
  • Drive ERP Connectivity: You will lead the implementation of integrations with external ERP systems (e.g., SAP, DATEV), acting as the bridge between our system and the customer's existing software landscape.
  • Act as a Forward Deployed Engineer: You will work directly with customers—sometimes on-site—to solve complex integration challenges, ensuring our software fits seamlessly into their daily workflows.
  • Navigate Ambiguity: You will translate vague customer requirements into concrete technical specifications, identifying when a customer might be asking for the "wrong" solution and guiding them toward the right one.
  • Improve Data Quality: You will investigate and resolve data parsing issues (e.g., in General Mail or PDF extraction), ensuring our customers can trust the data they see.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: You will work closely with the Customer Success and Sales teams to identify inefficiencies in our processes and build technical solutions to automate them.

What you need to succeed ✨

  • Experience: ~3 years of professional experience in software engineering, ideally in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
  • Language: Native German and fluent English are non-negotiable for this role, as you will be interfacing directly with DACH-region customers and interpreting German documentation/suppliers.
  • Engineering Fundamentals: Solid experience in a modern programming language (e.g., Python, Kotlin, TypeScript, Java). We value the ability to write clean, maintainable business logic over complex architectural theory.
  • Customer-Facing Mindset: You are not afraid to pick up the phone, hop on a call, or travel to a customer site to solve a problem. You enjoy the human side of technology.
  • Problem Solving: You can navigate situations where requirements are unclear. You ask the right questions to uncover the root problem rather than just building what is requested.

Nice to have

  • Asynchronous Systems: Experience designing and building message-driven, queue-based systems (e.g., Google Cloud Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP (AWS or Azure is also valuable).
  • Web Scraping: Familiarity with web scraping tools and techniques (e.g., Selenium).
  • API Design: Experience building and maintaining public-facing APIs.
  • ERP Knowledge: Experience working with German or International ERPs (SAP, DATEV, BRZ, NEVARIS) or accounting standards.
  • Data Extraction: Experience with parsing libraries, PDF extraction, or LLMs for data processing.
