Senior Project Engineer (HV Grid Connections)

A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Senior Project Engineer specializing in High Voltage (HV) Grid Connections to take technical ownership of grid interface design and implementation across energy infrastructure projects. This role is critical in delivering compliant and timely grid connections by coordinating with TSOs, DSOs, ICPs, and internal stakeholders.

Fluency in German (C1) and English is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical interface coordination with Transmission and Distribution System Operators (TSOs/DSOs) across Germany.
• Define and manage grid connection interface point designs, including single-line diagrams, communication protocols, and protection systems.
• Collaborate with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure grid code compliance and technical accuracy.
• Conduct technical reviews of preliminary and detailed grid connection designs, coordinating with external engineering consultants.
• Define and evaluate technical specifications for HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Track project schedules, manage technical dependencies, and maintain critical paths to energization milestones.
• Drive resolution of grid integration challenges through coordination with OEMs, consultants, contractors, and network operators.
• Deliver complete technical documentation, including Grid Code compliance reports, interface control documents, and commissioning protocols.
• Lead or support the energization and commissioning of grid connection infrastructure, ensuring a compliant and safe grid export setup.

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering degree (Electrical Engineering or related field).
• Proven experience in grid connection engineering or electrical systems integration within the energy or utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of German Grid Codes, TSO/DSO protocols, and HV system design principles.
• Fluent in German (C1 level) and English.
• Experience with grid connection studies, interface control documentation, and grid compliance testing.
• Skilled in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional technical collaboration.
• Familiarity with HV commissioning and energization procedures is highly advantageous.
